King Griff – Albany, OR

The King Griff Building is a single story 20th Century commercial brick structure built in the 1910’s on SE Lyon Street – a prominent thoroughfare in downtown Albany. The historic structure features corbel brick panels with dentil courses and is the oldest commercial brick structure on the east side of Lyon Street. Varitone is working with the Central Albany Revitalization Area program to restore the original features and storefront windows to the historic building.  The interior of the building is being completely renovated to house offices, a kitchen and meeting spaces for a community recovery support service. The original exposed brick walls and high ceilings are a highlight of the new interior design.

Autzen House – Corvallis, OR

Autzen House is a tutor style building that is today home to Oregon State Universities Center for the Humanities. The Center offers space for lectures, art displays and meetings, as well as offices for professors and graduate students. Our goal was to renovate the interior and exterior to improve the accessibility, energy performance, functionality and curb appeal. The House will have a new, welcoming ramp with integrated steps and planters, an expanded patio and plentiful bike parking for the Center’s campus commuters. The interior remodel updates their restrooms and catering kitchen, creates a more open feel to the meeting rooms, freshens up the interior finishes and lighting and is reconfigured to provide some additional office space, all while complimenting the existing historic features of the building.

Booster Court Apartments – Corvallis, OR

Booster Court is a new three-story, six-unit apartment building conveniently located between OSU campus and downtown Corvallis. The new apartments offer functional and efficient units with private balconies, in-unit laundry facilities, and en-suite bathrooms. The modern industrial exterior design drew inspiration from the original shop buildings on the site and surrounding area. Trellised pergolas and awnings provide shade and greenery for the residents.

Lebanon Dental- Lebanon, OR

This office will be the home of the Lebanon branch for Paventi and Brown orthodontics and Pediatric Dental Associates. These two businesses have come together to create a central dental hub in south Lebanon, nuzzled in between Walmart and Dutch Bros. We broke away from the standard orientation of buildings along highway 20 that usually have a sea of parking separating the road and the building. We pushed our building up against the road and hid the parking behind. The angle and orientation assist in welcoming north bound newcomers into the city of Lebanon with a modern flare.

Best Western – Kennewick, WA

This interior remodel is of an existing 4 story hotel located in Kennewick, WA. The contemporary hotel’s design sticks closely to it’s locations’ color palette with the use of natural hues and textures. The materials are inspired largely off of the Columbia River, which flows through the Tri-Cities; this is most notably reflected in the motion of the carpet pattern and the counter tops pebble-like appearance. The lobby boasts an open layout with a focal wall consisting of dehydrated moss and varied wood panels accompanied by a deep green wainscot that runs throughout the hotel. The guestrooms consist of updated case goods and furniture in warm grey’s with navy and orange accents.

Best Western – Keizer, OR

This project is a conversion from a Quality Inn to a custom Best Western Premier. This four-story hotel and convention center were overdue for a much-needed renovation, that not only saw all the exterior and interior finishes updated, but also the addition of an elevator! In the lobby the stairs and landing from the second floor were removed, helping create a more open space to the redesigned breakfast area and new bar. Due to the attached large convention center, we were able to divide up a large meeting room in the hotel to create a large fitness center adjacent to the pool. The indoor pool had fallen into disrepair and in need of a complete remodel including structural work. We were able to curate a calming palette with subtle accents of patterned tiles to this space. For the overall design and feel of the hotel and convention center, we got our inspiration from the existing corridor lighting, a mid-century modern gold wall sconce. Taking this cue, we developed the overall scheme of the property, we came to call “Modern Scandinavian Glam”.  The rich upholstery of the furniture pops against the neutral undertones of the floor and walls. In the lobby we created a focal wall with a design that is carried into the guestrooms. This design is seen in the guestroom wall dividers, that separate the space, yet the room still fills open. The palette in the guestrooms depart from the overall scheme with a more neutral palette with accents of dark wood and dusty purple.
