Unitarian Universalist Fellowship Church

Varitone Architecture designed a new addition to the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Corvallis. This new daycare and education wing is nestled among established oak and cedar trees and creates a safe and environmentally responsible new facility. The building materials complement the original building and an octagonal form with vaulted ceilings echoes the original building and worship hall.

The design creates secure yet flexible spaces allowing the daycare to completely close off during the weekdays, while maintaining the ability to open for the Fellowship’s education activities on the weekends. Working with Energy Trust of Oregon and a team of energy consultants, Varitone implemented sustainable design solutions including: a high performing envelope, natural daylighting and ventilation, energy efficient HVAC systems and lighting, and locations for solar panel placement. With the help of an arborist, the team  preserved many of the site’s established trees and landscape.

This project is currently undergoing the Land Use Approval process.
